A Associação Portuguesa em Guernsey, realizou no St. Pierre Park Hotel, no dia 3 de Outubro, as comemorações do centenário da Implantação da República Portuguesa.
O programa de abertura começou com o Hino Nacional em que a maioria dos participantes aderiu com entusiasmo e emoção. Elvio Pires Presidente da Associação explicou a história e a importância da Associação marcar esta data importante, assim como outras datas importantes da nossa história nacional, o presidente agradeceu a todos os participantes que estavam presentes, e toda sua equipe da Direcção da Associação Portuguesa em Guernsey.
Agradecendo a presença e colaboração do Mr. Francis Quin Vice-Ministro da Administração Interna e da Cultura, Lazer e Mr e Mrs, R. Matthews deputado Parlamentar dos Estados de Guernsey.
Francis Quin respondeu em seu nome e seu colega no agradecimento ao Presidente e os membros da Direcção pelo convite agradável para comemorar esse dia tão especial da história Portuguesa, acrescentou que a informação dada sobre a Associação Portuguesa em Guernsey, recentemente, comemorou 30 anos de existência, certamente, um sinal de bom serviço associativo, também complementando o trabalho de Joe Gomes que prestou ao longo dos anos com as autoridades do Estado de Guernsey.
Ao terminar fez votos para um bom trabalho futuro e uma festa muita alegre para todos.
A festa foi reforçada com o popular cantor Português Fernando Correia Marques e cerca de cento e quarenta participantes.

The Portuguese Association in Guernsey held at St. Pierre Park Hotel on 3 October, the centenary celebrations of Day of the Portuguese Republic.
The opening program began with the National Anthem in which most participants followed with enthusiasm and emotion. Then Elvio Pires President of the Association explained the history and importance of the Association to mark this important date as well as other important National dates in our history, the president thanked all the participants were present, and his entire team of the Portuguese Association in Guernsey Committee.
Thanking the presence and cooperation of Mr. Francis Quin Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Culture, Leisure and Mr. and Mrs, R. Matthews Parliamentary deputy of the States of Guernsey.
Mr Francis Quin replied in his name and his colleague in thanking the President and the Committee members for the pleasant invitation to celebrate this very special day of Portuguese history, he added that the information given on the Portuguese Association in Guernsey, recently celebrated thirty years of existence, surely a sign of good associative service, also complementing the work of Joe Gomes over the years with the local States Authorities.
At the end he wished for a good future work and a joyful celebration for all.
The party was enhanced with the popular Portuguese singer Fernando Correia Marques and about one hundred and forty participants
