BES - Appeal to help rebuild the Autonomous Region of Madeira
Given the dramatic situation that occurred in the past weekend in the Region of Madeira, the Executive Committee of Banco Espirito Santo (BES) has decided to create a support plan that includes the following measures to assist local Council’s affected by the storm - Funchal, Camara de Lobos, Ribeira Brava and Santa Cruz:
Immediate opening of an account for donations –“Solidarity BES Madeira Account" IBAN PT 50 (NIB 000700000083428293623) - accompanied by a campaign disclosure of the same with the 2.2 million customers of the BES and Portuguese in general;
Initial contribution of 500,000 euros from the BES for that account;
Immediate establishment of a line of credit with zero charge ( Euribor 6 months; period: 12 years), worth 1.5 million euros for financing relocation and reconstruction of housing and recovery of activity economic of micro and small enterprises (including the local shops).
The management of these resources will be allocated to local authorities for the application according to criteria to be defined .
